Arm
immobilizers (or slings) are required to give support and prevent
unnecessary arm movement so that recovery time is accelerated.
This not only helps the healing process but prevents further
injury from occurring.
Our arm immobilizers are a high quality product, superior in design and manufacture (Nappi Code 694625*001).

Specific Medical Solutions produces, packages, sterilizes and distributes
the Cox Tool. Arthroscopic instruments are inserted through this seal and portal which
simultaneously prevents Ringer’s Lactate solution draining from the patient.
This customized device works much like a cannula. However, it is a single-use
device and can fit a range of arthroscopic instruments with different diameters
(eliminating the need for several cannulas during an operation).
Specific
Medical Solutions has a customized mould for Cox Tools and can supply large volumes of these devices. The Cox Tool measures 33mm x 22,5mm (Nappi
Code 698545*001) and is sterilized and packaged appropriately. Medi-Kredit catalogue
number COX01.
Prices
are subject to discount with larger volumes.
The Cox Tool consists of a nylon-based plastic cylinder with a thread inside it and a double-rubber valve. (See picture
below)
Specific
Medical Solutions can sell either the double-rubber
valve or the nylon-based plastic
cylinder with thread.

| Low-Level Indicator (LLI) |

|
The
Low-Level Indicator (LLI) is an alarm system which alerts hospital
staff that a medicinal solution administered to a patient is running
low and urgently needs to be changed.
In many instances, hospital staff do not change drip bags in time, before they run out.
The result is that the bag runs dry and the pump continues pumping air into the patient.
Patients
have complained that they experience pain at this point and still there
is a chance that hospital staff are not able to assist them for another
few minutes.
The Low-Level Indicator has been designed as a cost-effective solution for this problem.
When
the bag of Ringer Lactate or a similar medicinal solution is
approaching empty, the Low-Level Indicator triggers a small siren and
flashing light. This alerts the hospital staff that they must get ready
to change the bag. This occurs approximately twenty minutes before the
bag becomes empty. One litre of Ringer Lactate solution on a drip
mechanism usually lasts ten hours. This gives the patient and the
hospital staff an undisturbed nine and a half hours before the alarm
triggers. Even if hospitals only want the bags changed when they are
completely empty, the Low-Level Indicator has brought to attention that
the medicinal solution is very low and preparation needs to be made to
change it.

Specific Medical Solutions produces, packages, sterilizes and
distributes these silicone-based portal plugs. They come in two different sizes,
large (28mm x
18mm) and small (24mm x 5,5mm).
The
silicone screws are produced in our mould using a medical-grade silicone
product. These serve the purpose of plugging the incision made by surgeons, so
that Ringer’s Lactate solution does not drain from the patient when an
instrument is temporarily removed, only to be re-inserted later in the
operation. During this window, the incision is plugged with the silicone screw,
creating an additional advantage for surgeons in that it provides a clear image
on the monitor for them to continue arthroscopy in another part of the affected
area. Also, by sealing an incision while it is not being used as an entry
point, the patient is further protected from infection. Until now doctors have
been plugging this with their fingers!
Large silicone screws (Nappi
Code 698543*001) are sterilized and packaged. Medi-Kredit catalogue number
PP02. The product name is “Plug Screw Portal Large 28mm x 18mm”.
Small silicone screws (Nappi
Code 698417*001) are also sterilized and packaged. Medi-Kredit catalogue number
PP01. The product name is “Plug Screw Portal 24mm x 5,5mm”.
